The Meneghello Industrial Group Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of 6’1 Japanese Forward Rui Mima ahead of the 2026 NBL1 West Season!
“I’m really excited to play NBL1 for the first time, and I can’t wait to join the team and get started with the Wolves. I want to play with intensity every game and bring the high energy I developed in Japan and Korea on both ends. Fans can expect efficient shooting and aggressive play from me. I’ll give my best every game and bring a competitive mindset to help the team succeed!”
Rui is currently playing for the Incheon Shinhan Bank S-Birds in the Women’s Korean Basketball League (WKBL), including a spectacular double-double including 36 points and 11 rebounds against Busan BNK Thum. Before joining the WKBL, Rui played in the Japanese W League as part of the Mitsubishi Koala’s for the past three seasons.
Rui has also represented her home country of Japan at a national level during the junior stage of her career, including at the FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship in 2017, and the FIBA Asia U16 Women’s Championship.
We can’t wait to welcome Rui not only to the Wolfpack for the remainder of the 2026 NBL1 West Season!
Women’s Head Coach Mitch Langford spoke on the signing of Rui ahead of the NBL1 West Season.
“Rui is an exciting prospect for us this season. At 6 foot 1 with elite athleticism, she is able to guard multiple positions and is an elite off ball defender because of her IQ and understanding of the game.
“Rui brings high end experience in Japan, playing in the Japanese W League for the last 3 seasons as well as representing Japan at the national stage in juniors.
“She’s an unbelievable athlete that runs the floor extremely well, stretches the floor with her shooting ability while also being able to play in on ball screen actions and break defences down.”
Rui is our fifteenth Women’s player signed ahead of the 2026 NBL1 West Season. To follow all the upcoming NBL1 West and Wolves Action, head to the Wolfpack’s Facebook and Instagram Pages.
