The Meneghello Industrial Group City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of 5’9 US Guard Lesila Finau, who has signed with the Wolfpack for the remainder of the 2025 NBL1 West Season.

Born in Dublin, California, Lesila recently finished playing in the German DBBL for Medical Instinct Veilchen BG74. Over the 2024-25 season, Finau has played 22 games for the club, averaging 12.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

Before signing to Veilchen, Lesila graduated from California Baptist University in 2023, playing for the Lancers during the 2022-23 college season. During the 34 games Finau played that season, she averaged 9.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

In 2022, Lesila competed as part of the Tongan National Basketball Team during the FIBA Women’s Polynesian Basketball Cup. Throughout the tournament, Finau averaged 26.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists, leading her to be named in the All-Star 5 for the competition.

Before competing in the FIBA Women’s Polynesian Basketball Cup, Finau played for the Colorado Buffaloes from 2018 to 2022. During her senior year, Lesila started in all 31 games during the team’s run to the NCAA Tournament, leading the Buffaloes in scoring for the first time in her career while ending her college career with a total of 443 points, 162 assists and 279 rebounds over four seasons.

Speaking on the signing, Women’s Head Coach Jesse Pence said, “We are ecstatic to add Lesila to our roster at this point of the year. She projects to be a great plug-and-play player for us, who excels in transition on both ends of the court!

She can guard multiple positions on defence and demonstrate some versatility on offence too! We look forward to seeing her on Van Kailis Court soon.”

When asked how it feels to continue with the Wolfpack for the 2025 season, Lesila said, “I have always wanted to play in Australia, but I think I am most excited about being in a new country and experiencing a new culture. I am hoping to bring energy on both ends of the floor as well as on the bench to contribute to the team’s success.

On the court, I like a fast-paced game. I’m always looking for opportunities and advantages in transition, but also knowing when to slow things down and control the game to the best of my ability.”

Tickets to watch Lesila and the Wolfpack on Van Kailis Court this Friday against the Redbacks can be purchased here.
