The Joondalup Wolves proudly announce that Men’s NBL1 Head Coach David Morrell has re-signed with the Pack for 2025.

David has led from the front when shaping the identity of the Joondalup Wolves. A passionate professional on and off the court, David has helped turn the Wolfpack into one of the strongest and most consistent teams in NBL1 West.

Throughout his tenure with the Wolfpack, David has helped to regularly bring the Wolfpack deep into the NBL1 West Finals series, including two Preliminary finals and one Grand final appearance.

David is an integral piece of the Wolfpack and the Wanneroo Basketball Association, and we look forward to seeing him continue for the upcoming season.

Speaking on the re-signing, Wolfpack CEO Andrew Summerville said, “David is arguably one of the best coaches in the West and possibly the country at this level. You cannot deny his record.

In his three years at the helm, he has finished third, second, and third. Although we have fallen agonisingly short of the championship, I don’t believe another coach in the league can boast as high a finish across the last three years as David can.

Every year, he manages to get his team playing the right way at the right time. Nothing seems to rattle him. He is always calm under pressure and has the trust of his players.

Coaches never get the credit they deserve, and all the grandstand experts think it’s easy, but trust me, it’s not, and David should get all the credit he deserves.

This year’s team is coming together nicely, and I can’t wait to see how David can lead them again in 2025.”

When asked how it feels to lead the Wolfpack for another season, David said, “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading the Joondalup Wolves NBL1 Men’s team for 2025. The Wolves fans are the best not just in the league but in the country and are what make us a destination club.

In my three seasons here, we have been close every year—always in the semi-finals for the playoffs. Our entire mindset is to try to get to the next step and win a Championship. That’s our mindset, and in 2025, we will do everything we can to make this a reality.

I believe in our team in 2025, with many returners, which will allow us to build on our great chemistry in 2024. We have been training hard and are very excited to get in front of our fans and compete this year.”
