The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce that 2024 Wolfpack MVP CJ Turnage has re-signed for the 2025 NBL1 Season.
Turnage was instrumental in getting the Wolves to their second consecutive Preliminary final, with the Michigan product averaging 22.38 points per game, becoming the Wolves top scorer for the 2024 season, whilst also placing himself within the Top 10 of the entire NBL1 West competition. Turnage was also prolific in other areas of the game, averaging an impressive 7.17 rebounds and 4.33 assists per game.
The 2024 Season also marked the second year that Turnage was chosen to be a part of the NBL1 West All-Star Five First Team, after previously being selected in 2022. Alongside this honor, CJ was also selected in the NBL1 West Select Team to playa against the Perth Wildcats, where he led all scorers. In addition to these honors, he was also chosen as Player of the Week in Round 2, after an incredible performance which included scoring 35 points, gathering 10 rebounds and three assists against the Southwest Slammers.
For his strong form and consistency, Turnage was crowned the Wolfpack’s MVP for Season 2024, and placed third in the NBL1 West MVP Awards, as well as being selected for the All-NBL1 West First Team for the second time since signing on with the Wolfpack.
When asked about how it feels to re-sign with the Wolfpack for another year, Turnage said, “Wolfpack fans! I’m excited for my 4th season with you! Appreciate all the support over the last 3 years. Looking forward to getting out there and competing again with the boys.
Hopefully we finally put up that championship banner! It has been great memories so far and I’m looking forward to many more. Thank you, Wolfpack, for making me feel right at home in Joondalup. Year 4 LET’S GO!!”
Men’s Head Coach David Morrell spoke on the importance of having CJ as part of the team for the coming campaign, saying “It’s a great privilege to have such great continuity with an import as talented as CJ as it is truly rare. He and I have been on this Wolfpack journey together since day 1, as he was my first free agent signing 3 seasons ago in my first season with Joondalup.
I’m proud of him and his success in those 3 seasons. He’s improved each and every year in major ways and is truly an unstoppable force.
After those 3 great years, there is definitely still a strong unsettled feeling for both of us of unfinished business as we have gotten agonizingly close to a championship in back-to-back seasons now.
Returning CJ is a big part of us feeling good about our chances to contend for a championship yet again. Re-signing him was a no brainer. You see the talent on the floor, but in addition to that, his teammates love him, the community loves him, he’s smart, he puts the team first. He is a tremendous player, and I am very excited to continue this process with him into 2025.”
CJ Turnage is our first official Men’s player signing for the 2025 NBL1 West season.
