Wolfpack WABL teams played their round 13 games this weekend. As a collective, Wolves teams had a 22-13 record, a .629 win rate.
The U12 Champs Girls had a great win against Hawks, establishing a 30-15 halftime lead on their way to a 61-23 victory! Our U12-2 Girls Green faced off with the Hawks 3s and prevailed with a similar 65-16 scoreline. U12-3 Girls White had quite the test against Lightning 2s and won 41-35 with Reevah Pearman finding a perfect time for her season-high 17 points.
The U14 Champs Girls jumped out to 11-3 lead but ended up trailing by 4 at halftime. The mighty Wolfpack used a powerful surge in the 3rd quarter to gain their own 34-31 lead heading towards the final frame. Unfortunately, the rhythm and momentum was stifled and we fell 42-46 in a hard-fought game. The U14-2 Girls took just their 3rd loss of the season 34-45 at Willetton. The u14-3 girls The U14-3 Girls cemented their 3rd place position on the ladder with a gritty win on the road in Cockburn. Working toward the 42-30 win, the Wolfpack they had the lead for the entire game except a brief period of the 2nd quarter where they trailed 20-21. The U14-4 Girls had a night game against the Lakeside Lightning and were defeated 45-54.
The U16 Champs Girls put a strong performance together against the Hawks but were undone in the 2nd half, and were defeated by a 62-75 score. The U16 Girls Green Wolves team was well and truly tested in their contest with Tigers. The Wolfpack had 3 players score 13+ points and were able to prevail 61-54. The U16 Girls White matched up with Suns of Kalamunda and dominated their way to a 73-50 final. The U16-4 Girls went up the hill to Raiders and survived an early onslaught by that had them leading just 13-10. We were able to explode in the 2nd quarter and thereafter on the way to an 87-28 victory.
The U18-4 Women lost at the hands of Cockburn 3s 38-75. The U18-3 Women had a tough test in the Hawks. It was tough to battle back from a disappointing 5-17 start. The Wolfpack never quit and were able to put together a solid 2nd half, losing in the end 35-63. The U18-2 Women won each quarter by at least 16 on their way to a 113-39 victory over Suns. The U18 Champs Women fought hard but lost to their counterpart, 63-98.
The U21 Champs Women defeated Tigers 66-53 due in large part toa 18-4 2nd quarter. Well done girls!
The U12 Boys had a rare 2-2 weekend. The U12 Champs were put to the test by the Eagles at came away with a 51-44 victory. The U12-2 Boys dug themselves a 1st half deficit of 14 points before making it all click in the 3rd quarter to bring the game to just 4 points headed to the final frame. The comeback was completed when Mitch Lozey made an assisted left corner 3 to put the Wolves up 49-48 with under 2 minutes remaining. That would be the last score of the game for the Wolves who fell at the hands of the Hawks 1s 49-53. It was a great effort and a high-level game. U12-3 Boys were defeated by Hawks 2s 46-51 in a game that was close throughout. The U12-4 Boys travelled down to Bunbury and came away with a 66-47 victory for their troubles.
The U14 Champs Boys trounced their way to an 83-46 victory over Redbacks. The U14-2 Boys lost to Hawks 1s 60-69. The U14-3 Boys won 51-42 over Hawks 3s. The U14-4 Boys moved into 3rd place on the ladder after dispatching 1st place Lightning 3s, 52-37.
The U16-1 Boys were defeated Suns 69-62. The U16-2 Boys put together a great performance to defeat the Hawks Blue 85-73. This would be their Finals matchup in the 1st round if the standings hold. The U16-3 Boys had an atypical sluggish start and were unable to get on track enough to make up for it. We battled back to level the game heading towards the 4th quarter but were defeated in the end, 75-84. The U16-4 Boys took the trip down to Bunbury and came away with a 72-59 victory over Slammers 3s. Great job to a hardworking and talented team!
The U18 Champs Men had a quality matchup with the Hawks and were defeated by a clutch 3 with less than 2 seconds left, 98-100. U18-2 Men went to Sun and came back with a blazing 93-68 win. The U18-3 Men Green defeated Slammers 2s 114-49. The U18-4 Men White faced off with Tigers 3s in Willetton and came away with a hard-fought 71-67 victory.
The U20 Champs Men were toppled 71-88 against Hawks. The U20-2 Men continued their strong form with a win over Redbacks 87-76.
