Wolfpack WABL teams played their round 15 games this weekend. As a collective, Wolves teams had a 19-15 overall record.
The U12 Girls went 1-3 on the day. The Champs Girls had a challenging loss by 22 against Willetton, but had moments that showed hope for if there is a finals rematch between the 3rd place Wolves and 1st place Tigers. Team 2 also lost a close, 12-point game against Willetton. Team 3 had a 40-point win against Perry Lakes. Suffocating defense through 3 quarters had the Hawks on 10 points at 3 quarters time, with the Wolves on 57. Team 4 lost to Rockingham 2s by 19, but had a much better second half than first.
The U14 girls went 2-2 on the day. The Champs Girls lost to Willetton by 16. Team 2 beat the Suns 62-45, securing the 2-seed going into finals in two weeks. Team 3 took the trip to Bunbury for a game against the Slammers, and fell in a heartbreaker by only 3 points. But that Slammers team was the 1st seed on the ladder, and the Wolves have locked in a top 3 seed, so Sunday’s game shows that they are a solid contender come finals. Team 4 beat the Senators 62-44, and there is now a 3-way tie for 1st place in the division, making next week’s game vs. the also-tied-for-first Flames, a very fun one.
The U16 girls went 1-3 on the day. The Champs Girls went to Willetton and lost by 22. The score was a one-point game at 3 quarters time, but the wheels came off a bit at the end. But the Wolves stay strong in 4th place, and will have a big game next week against Warwick to keep their top-4 spot. Team 2 lost a 1-point game to Suns at Ray Owen. The girls fought hard to the end, but fell just short. Team 3 had a big 37-point win over the Magic. A big win as they move to a tie for 1st on the ladder as finals approach. Team 4 had a close game against Lakeside at home and a wild game of runs. After a 19-2 3rd quarter to go up big, the Wolves lose the 4th quarter 28-12 and end up falling 3 points short.
The U18 women went 2-2 on the day. The champs girls went down to 3-seeded Willetton. Team 2 had a 19-point win against Perry Lakes in a 1v2 clash. This leaves the Wolves at 15-0 in the 1-seed for the division, and locks that in, with 12-3 Perry Lakes no longer able to catch them. Team 3 got a 56-50 win against the Perth Redbacks, and move to the 5-seed on the ladder as the move into finals. Team 4 lose a 9-point game against Eagles.
The U12 Boys had a 3-1 weekend. The U12 Champs remain an undefeated 15-0 as they defeat the 4th place Willetton team for the 3rd time this year. Team 2 defeated Cockburn’s 2s by a score of 61-56. This moves the Wolves to 10-5 and 4th place, only trailing in the standings behind 3 champs teams in div 2, but currently ranking as the top team 2 in WA. They are in good form going into finals and it is anyone’s division. Team 3 lost in a valiant effort against Willetton’s 2nd team, by a score of 56-62. Team 4 got up big against Lakeside Lightning at home, winning 61-34.
The U14 boys went 3-1 on the weekend as well. The champs boys got their 3rd victory against 2-seeded Willetton on the year, and remain the only 3 losses of Willetton’s season. This victory completely seals the deal for the Wolves being the 1-seed going into finals. Team 2 had a thrilling 2-point victory against the Senators. Two clutch freethrows by Kobi Bunt were crucial to sealing the victory in the final moments of the game, as well as some clutch defensive stops to finish the game. Team 3 had a loss against Willetton, but they hold onto the 4-spot going into finals. Round 16 games will sort out a cluster of teams for seeding sakes. Team 4 got a big 44-28 win over Redbacks. They are now the 3-seed going into finals.
The U16 boys went a perfect 4-0 on the day. Team 1 got a big margin of victory against Hills and they now sit at 15-1 on the year. Team 2 had a great game, going up 7 against Warwick. This breaks the tie against Warwick giving the Wolves the 5-spot on the ladder going into finals, pending the results of round 16. Team 3 continues to hold the 1-spot on the ladder with another win and a 13-2 record on the year. Team 4 is showing continued improvement and log a 14-point win over Mandurah.
The U18 men went 2-2 on the day. The Champs boys went down by 13 to the top seeded Tigers. Team 2 got a nice win over Perry Lakes and they are in a tie for 2nd place at the moment, however, their game against Warwick next week could be a battle for the 1/2-seed going into finals. Team 4 had a thrilling game, but unfortunately fell 3-points short after a late made 3 by Senators.
The senior teams went 1-1 on the day with one bye for the U20-2 men. The U21 women got a 27-point victory over Cockburn and move into the 4-spot. They U20 men lost by 26 to Cockburn.
