Wolfpack WABL teams had their final regular season game of the year on Sunday. For some teams, after a hard-fought year, this was unfortunately their last game of the year. For other Wolves teams, they will enter round 1 of finals starting next Sunday.
The U12 Girls Champs team played the top-seed Tigers on Sunday and it was a close, competitive game. But they lost, and in the process lost a tiebreaker for the 2-seed going into finals. They will go in as the 3-seed. Team 2 goes into finals in 7th place. Team 3 enters finals as the 6th seed, and team 4 finishes strong with a win for a 10-6 season, and a 4-seed in finals.
The U12 Boys Champs team beat the top seed, and undefeated Willetton to go into finals in style as the 2-seed. Team 2 also beat Willetton and will also finished the regular season in 2nd place. Team 3 lost on Sunday, but will be the 6-seed in finals. Team 4 enters finals as the 4-seed, and off of a 1-point win over Cockburn’s 3s. The U12 boys went 3-1 this Sunday.
In the U14 Girls Champs team was tied 27-27, but then had a bad run in the 3rd to fall behind. They will now enter playoffs in 5th place in the division. Team 2 had a big win over Warwick on Sunday, and will be in 4th place going into finals. They will play the Willetton Tigers next week. Team 3 also had a good win on Sunday, they finished the year 11-5 and in 4th place. Team 4 also finished the regular season on a high with a big win. They will play the Redbacks next weekend in finals.
The U14 Boys Champs team had a tough game on Sunday, but go into finals as the 6-seed. They will play Cockburn next Sunday. Team 2 lost to Redbacks 1s, but after a terrific 2nd half of the season, they earned a 3-seed going into finals. Team 3 has finished the year 11-5, and are the 3rd place team going into finals. Team 4 lost a tiebreaker on points for the 4-seed to Lakeside, and will go into next weekend as the 5-seed. Either way though, their matchup on Sunday was going to be that same Lakeside team.
The U16 Girls Champs team finishes the year with a 5-seed. They will play the 4th place Perth Redbacks on Sunday. Team 2 had a win against East Perth’s 1s to move to 7-9 on the year, and 6th place finish. Team 3 had a big win on Sunday that propelled them to 4th place on the ladder going into finals. Team 4 fought hard on Sunday but had a heartbreaking 1-point loss.
The U16 Boys Champs team had a thrilling game on Sunday that unfortunately resulted in a 1-point loss. They go into finals as a 6-seed matched up against the Willetton Tigers in round 1. Team 2 also had a thrilling game that came down to the wire, winning 79-77 against Rockingham’s 1s. They will play Lakeside in Round 1 of finals next Sunday. Team 3 finished the regular season with a single digit loss, however, they are still going to be the 1-seed going into finals and will play Slammers next Sunday. Team 4 finished the year 10-6 and will be in 4th place entering playoffs.
The U18 Women Champs team had an overtime thriller against the top-seed Senators team and ended up losing by 2 and dropping to the 4-seed for playoffs. But they still enter finals in a strong position to hopefully make a big run. Team 2 and Team 3 played each other on Sunday, with Team 2 coming away victorious in a well-played contest. Team 3 will unfortunately not continue into finals, while Team 2 will enter as a 3-seed. Team 4 will enter playoffs and will have a matchup against the top seed and undefeated Hawks 3s team.
The U18 Men Champs team had a high-stakes contest against Warwick with the result dictating a range of seeding from the 5-seed to the 8-seed next weekend. They won by 12 and earned a 5-seed. They will play the Suns next weekend. Team 2 will have a 7 vs 2 matchup against the Perth Redbacks next weekend, while team 3 will also play the Redbacks, but in a 6 vs 3 matchup. Team 4 finished up an impressive undefeated campaign, and after a big win on Sunday, they will play Hills Raiders again in the upcoming weekend in the 1 vs 8 matchup.
The U21 Women Champs team had a 24-point win over the 2nd place Slammers team, thus solidifying the 1-seed going into finals. They will play the Cougars on Sunday.
The U20 Men Champs team and Team 2 both had close contests on Sunday. The Champs team had an exciting 87-83 victory over Warwick and locked in a 5-seed going into finals. Team 2 finished the season with a valiant effort, in a 1-possession game against the 3rd place Eagles. But making the heartbreaking defeat worse, is it was the difference between being in or out of finals. But the team competed very well and should be proud of the effort.
