2026 Term 2
Nu-Ford Wangara Aussie Hoops
Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program. It provides a fun and inclusive Basketball experience for 4-10 year-olds that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game. In addition to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, the program serves as a platform for social development and inclusion, fostering stronger and more vibrant communities and individuals.
Wolfpack Aussie Hoops core values are:
– Fun
– Safe
– Accessible
– Inclusive
The Wolfpack Aussie Hoops program has sessions broken into three stages. This ensures that for each age group, players are participating in activities and games that are relevant to their physical and mental capabilities which will increase in competitiveness, and prepare athletes to transition into the Wanneroo Basketball Association Junior Domestic Competition.
– Rookie
– Intermediate
– All Star
Rookie Level Sessions: Rookie sessions are designed for athletes in the youngest Aussie Hoops range, from 4-6 years old. The goal of the Rookie program is to get athletes excited about the game of basketball and teach them the basic skills necessary to prepare them to graduate into an intermediate session and an under-8 Junior Domestic team. Sessions are run with the lower, 8-foot rings.
Intermediate Level Sessions: Intermediate sessions are for slightly older kids, spanning from 6-10 years old. These sessions are held at venues with the lower, 8-foot rings. The goal of Intermediate sessions is to be welcoming for players that have no experience, but also be slightly more advanced than rookie sessions, pushing players forward, and preparing them to join into under-8 and under-10 Junior Domestic teams. Intermediate and All-Star level sessions can also be good for extra skill development even after a player joins a Junior Domestic team.
All Star Level Sessions: All Star Level sessions are meant for players who have a bit of experience in another Aussie Hoops programs or 7-10 year old kids looking to experience a more challenging curriculum. All Star sessions are run on courts with full height, 10-foot rings, so you should only sign up for All Star sessions if you can get the ball to the full height rings. We would encourage anyone who is in an All-Star level session to also be signing up and playing for a Junior Domestic team at the same time.
